What to Expect
Assess
In your first session, we review your history, assess how your whole body moves, and start treating what's driving your symptoms.
Treat
In follow-up sessions, we use clinical Pilates and other movement-based therapy to retrain how you move, with hands-on treatment when you need it.
Progress
As you build strength and confidence, you can continue in small group sessions or on your own, with a plan to keep you moving beyond the studio.
How many sessions will I need?
You won't be left guessing. By your third session, you'll know roughly how long treatment will take.
What Is Clinical Pilates?
Clinical Pilates is a rehab approach that uses the principles of Pilates to change the way you move. Sessions are guided by your physiotherapist on a Pilates reformer, a machine with adjustable springs that can take weight off a movement that hurts or add resistance as you get stronger. You don't need any Pilates experience to start.
-
A regular Pilates class is a workout, with one routine for everyone. Clinical Pilates is rehab built around you. Your physiotherapist uses every exercise as both an assessment and a treatment, adjusting as you go.
-
Physiotherapist-led. We assess how you move, build your program, and adjust it every time we see you.
Precise. We use the springs to find a version of each movement you can do, even when symptoms flare.
Integrated. We combine exercise with education and hands-on treatment when you need it.
Measured. We reassess after everything we do together, so you can see what's changing.
-
Eases load on painful areas
Calms a sensitive nervous system
Sharpens body awareness
Strengthens deep supporting muscles
Builds control through your full range
Grows confidence in movement
