Why movement quality matters in youth field hockey
Field hockey places unique demands on growing bodies, including:
Sustained forward-flexed postures
Repetitive rotation and asymmetrical loading
Rapid changes in direction
High demands on the spine, hips, and core
For youth athletes, learning how to move well with the demands of their sport is just as important as developing sport-specific skills. Poor movement habits established early can increase injury risk and limit performance as athletes grow.
The youth field hockey program focuses on building strong foundations now, to support both current play and long-term athletic development.
