Prenatal & Postnatal Group Programs
Physiotherapist-led group classes supporting core strength, confidence, and meaningful movement
At Kinesphere Therapy, our prenatal and postnatal programs are designed to support the very different demands placed on the body during pregnancy and after birth. While “core strength” is often discussed as a single concept, its role—and the way it should be trained—changes significantly across these stages.
Led by licensed physiotherapists and grounded in clinical Pilates and movement-based therapy, our small-group programs provide thoughtful, evidence-informed support in a welcoming environment.
Understanding the Core: Prenatal vs Postnatal Care
Core strength is not one-size-fits-all.
The “core” is not just about your abdominal muscles. It is a coordinated system that includes the diaphragm, abdominal wall, pelvic floor, spine, hips, and nervous system. Pregnancy and postpartum recovery affect your core system in different ways, and need to be trained accordingly.
Our programs reflect these differences, ensuring that movement supports your body rather than working against it.
Prenatal Core Support & Therapy
Supporting adaptability, load management, and confidence during pregnancy.
During pregnancy, the core’s role shifts toward support, adaptability, and load transfer as the body accommodates:
Changes in posture and centre of gravity
Increased joint mobility
Altered breathing mechanics
Growing physical and emotional demands
The goal of prenatal core work is not maximal strength, but rather:
Efficient coordination between breath, trunk, and pelvic floor
Strategies to manage increasing load
Maintaining mobility and comfort
Supporting confidence in movement throughout pregnancy
Postnatal Core Support & Rehab
Rebuilding coordination, capacity, and trust in your body.
After birth, the core system often needs re-education rather than simply strengthening. Pregnancy and delivery can alter how the core muscles coordinate, respond to load, and support movement.
Postnatal core work focuses on:
Restoring coordination between breath, abdominal wall, pelvic floor, and spine
Gradually rebuilding strength and endurance
Improving load tolerance for daily life (lifting, carrying, returning to activity)
Supporting long-term resilience rather than quick “bounce back” goals
This work is valuable weeks, months, or even years postpartum.
